Some time ago I kind of gave up on the existing social media apps, and I’ve managed to get on quite well without Facebook, and I don’t even miss my Instagram (although I’ve yet to find a good alternative).
I was never prolific on Twitter (now the dumpster fire called X), so for a while Mastodon gave me a nice enough alternative (see previous post), though it never really took off…
Back when I moved over to Mastodon, there was another newcomer, Bluesky, but at the time it was invite (and US?) only, so I couldn’t test it.
About a year ago Bluesky opened up, though, and I signed up and made my first post:
Setting up Bluesky account. Do I _really_ need this…?

Since then there has been a clear trend: I’m using Mastodon less and less, and Bluesky more and more. I quite enjoy the banter, and the general tone of Bluesky, and thus it is – at the moment – the only social media I’m using.1
So, come join me on Bluesky, and follow me if you want to.

- I also do frequent the MacRumors forums on a semi-regular basis, but I’ve never really considered that a social media. ↩︎
